Hi there, this is the only place in the forum in which you can, or better, you must, speak english!

About "One Hundred Windows", as our loved commender in chief Marci, said, about your life, about your ... what you want.

There is only a rule to observe: Here, we speak english.
The second rule is that if you find an error in one other person's post, you would be kind to tell him where he's wrong.

This is a place to improve our knowledge and our ability in writing and reading...let's make the most of it!!!

I think it is a good idea. [SM=g27811] It is not as easy as it seems writing in other languages because you must not only observe grammatical rules, but also, and above all, thinking in English [SM=g27829] and respect the collocation of words, that is to say,the way words occur in a given context.I have had enough of collocation & company [SM=g27826] However,at least here,I can speak English without having the profesors'breath on my neck [SM=g27825] [SM=g27823]

See you next time! [SM=g27811]

Good morning to everybody. I must admit that I feel a little shiver of pride when I open the forum and I found the background image...Isn't it lovely?

But now i have no more excuses...I must study and i'm not so enthusiastic about it...

("I find" not "I found":a little slip [SM=g27823] )
Yes,this background is magic,fantastic. [SM=g27823]
Regarding study, yes, you are quite right...With this heat it is easy to lose concentration..Besides,your will to study tends to decrease.

There are different ways: To be about to/ to be on the point of/to be going to/to be ready to

Es:Sto per uscire = I'm about to go out/I'm going out

Your question would be more correct written in this way:
How do you say "stavo per" in English? or "What's the English for "stavo per" ?

It seems indeed that September has arrived,in all senses...

Hi there lads and lassies, the teacher's back home, although the only time left for me on this computer lasts just... one hour at lunch!
Yes me dears, I'm currently going to the beach from about half past 11 to 7 p.m. would you believe!!!
Believe it or not, my nephew forced me to go to the beach right after Midsummer's day, so that I could play with him a bit, so I started following him and from that day on I never missed a day, now I'm wholly tanned, you should see me... 20 kilos more and all black!
Yes, I know I should try and lose weight but, you know... eating is just like living after all, the more you want to swallow into your stomach the more you're hungry for life, that's how I feel about it.
Anyway, I'll lose some weight, but only winter will erase this suntan from my skin, for God's sake!
The only time left for me to switch my computer on is lunch time, I sometimes even skip Centovetrine and have to ask my mum about it...
I think I'll keep on doing this for another month, after all I live in front of the seaside, September's a wonderful month (I hated it when I was a kid [SM=g27812] ...), the beach empties up and so many foreign tourists (mostly Swedes) come back after having left in July due to the fact they hate crowded places, believe me!
So I don't know how long I'll have the chance to stay here now, all I know is that I'll try and keep updated and I'll be back for good by the end of this month, I swear!
Bye bye mates!

And... yes, it's "to be about to", although in Scotland we say "tae be aboot tae", funny accent... pronounce it like " te bi ebuut te" and you'll get it.
You're all very good at English I have to say, I knew about (or aboot, as you like) Tania, I didn't know about the rest of yous ("yous" instead of "you" is another Scottish feature, don't mind).
Let me pay my compliments, really.

I would have difficulty in understanding this pronunciation! [SM=g27825]

You'd have even more difficulties in understanding a word from the Cockneys (London) or the Scousers (Liverpool), believe me mate!
The Scottish pronunciation in quite easy for the Italians, not only because of the rolling "r"s, but also because Italians and Scots have the same sistem of vowels in general, whereas the English do not. Have you ever heard some Englishman pronouncing the words "know", "now" or "play"? Believe me, Scots are more understandable...
Aye (yes in Scots), I'm doing fine, I haven't received any phone call from some sort of school yet though! I'm waiting...
Do have a warm (hopefully) and deep dive into the sea in late October, lim!
My nephew is a light in my life, now even more than before, because he's learning what it means to be a moaner, just like all kids are, he's getting to know all the vices and vortues of being a kid, and this is what I call innocence. I'm proud of him.
